Gamers have long been the butt of many jokes, be it from the media, their peers, or even complete strangers on the street.

After all, many hold the belief that video games do not hold much value, and are simply a waste of time.

Well, it is about time that the gamers of the world hit back and prove that their favorite hobby is a great way to learn important skills. In fact, these skills are so useful that they would likely prove to be necessary for survival during the (as some believe) upcoming apocalypse!

Not a believer? Then check out these reasons why gamers are more likely to survive should there be a nuclear holocaust or some other globe-spanning disaster.

  1. They have already learned skills like foraging for food.

When the world collapses, gamers will already have an edge because they’ll likely know how to forage for food and water. Those who have played Bistro Stars or Youda Sushi Chef would also have learned how to prepare food, which never hurts.

  2. They’ve learned how to run cities and farms properly.

After society slowly returns to form, we’re likely going to need to start agriculture all over again, and those who have spent time playing Farm Frenzy 3, Sunshine Acres or Virtual Farm will know more than the average Joe!

You’ll need to know how to run one of these

  3. They have the logic skills necessary to look for important but well-hidden survival tools.

People who have perfected their skills in hidden object games are FAR more likely to be able to spot helpful items during their quest for survival. A hammer buried underneath a little rubble? That wouldn’t escape their sight, once they have trained and toughened their skills by playing Escape from Rosecliff Island or Gardenscapes.

  4. They’ve learned how to venture out into the world to find a place for them and their family.

If one were meant to lead a new society, wouldn’t you want them to have had experience in bringing together a powerful civilization? It certainly wouldn’t hurt. So exactly how can one build their leadership skills? By playing games like Royal Envoy and Aztec Tribe!

As one can see, games teach FAR more than people say they do. They teach people how to fetch food, grow and store food, hunting skills, how to live with one another and basically how to survive in case there is a huge disaster!
